WerleyBob Pictures is a collaboration between two writers, artists, animators, and film makers named Bradly Werley and Bob Blevins. We’ve set up this blog to keep our supporters up to date on the progress of our first film entitled T.P. The story is about a young and naive roll of toilet paper who is born into a dirty gas station bathroom, and after being mentored by a well intentioned but extremely traumatized elder, decides he wants a better life for himself. However, before he can get it he’ll have to get past a ravenous toilet, a sociopathic plunger, and two mechanics with poor dietary habits.
We’re creating this film in the traditional medium of stop motion animation by photographing puppets staged in a miniature set one frame at a time, which are later played back at a rate of 24 frames per second. The process is long and tedious since everything is hand crafted and manipulated, but we’re whacky enough to be into that sort of thing. We received our initial funding through Kickstarter.com in May of 2011, and a year later the work we had done landed us each our first jobs at a major animation studio. It got shut down a few months later, but that’s not the point.
We’ve been doing well working on T.P. between our regular jobs, but now we want to start working on it full time until it’s complete, or the money runs out and we have to go back to work. 😦 We used our initial funding to procure essential materials and equipment, record our professional voice actor, and purchase the rights to a necessary piece of copy written music. We’ve saved up enough personal funds to focus all our efforts on T.P. for a little while, but of course time is money and the more money we bring in the faster we can complete this project. So if you missed our Kickstarter campaign but still want to donate to the cause, please click the “Donate” links on the right side of the page. Here’s the link to our first proposal video, where you can also find the updates we’ve made since we were funded. You can also see the list of our backer rewards, so if you donate through the blog but still want your incentive gift you can get it. Just shoot us a message and we’ll add you to the list of other fabulous people awaiting their fabulous gift.
Enjoy the process photos and work samples on the blog and please share it with friends, family, co-workers, minor acquaintances, and total strangers. We need to generate all the interest and support we can. Thanks for your curiosity in T.P. and don’t forget to check in once in a while, because this thing’s going to be finished eventually.
